This is dark and exciting from the beginning. The main character is a villain and quite ruthless. Take controls of you love one's power and destroy your enemy is cruel but how the story grows is just beyond what I predict. I thought she'll be good eventually but she's so not. Her way of vengeance is amazingly satisfying.

Adelina met a new love interest that I thought will be good for her, but well, true villain never care about love doesn't it? I was kinda hoping that she'd kill Raffaele because, as sweet as he is, he's still evilish. And Enzo, I need more story of how he'd be doing after. The plot twist here is insanely good. Some question I had from the first book got answered here and I wouldn't guess it this way, which makes the story so good because it's unpredictable.

Ugh I hate when a good book is over. Next book please come soon. Because I'm dying to know how they'll be with Adelina as queen and the Daggers on the run. Pleeeaaassseeeeee Marie Lu........

Such a great start for a famous fairytale retelling. I was thinking to find the same old main story in it, like how the step mother and her step sisters are all treating her badly, how her beloved father died and leave her. Little twist in the story change everything, in a good way of course.

Cinder is not the typical helpless cinderella that we knew, who needs fairy godmother to meet her handsome prince. Prince charming alone isn't enough to make her attend the ball. She got her own priority which makes her a strong character. The romance is still there, but it's not the main focus.

The story flew really well, it's engaging and fun and I can't put the book down. I love strong heroine, Cinder is independent and relatable. You got the cinderella vibe with a different taste which is awesome. Look's promising for the series.

At first, the story doesn't really excite me. It's boring life story of a troubled teen who cope with being nonmagical person in a magical family. It's weird feeling reading it. But half way through the book the story gets interesting. The plot twist successfully entertain me. I never would've guessed that his brothers are bad guys.

I found a few thing bothering me though. I can't understand why his brother could be so evil to him. I thought family means everything to them, but it's not. Turning your little brother to be a killing machines without hin even knowing is really bad. And all that for money? I also would want to know more about Maura and the song she heard, what's that all about? Why is she leaving Philip? And Baron, he was supposed to be the good brother but he's even more heartless.

Other that that I really enjoy this book. The mystery keep me guessing through the pages and I really didn't see that coming by the end. It's really exciting.

The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family's good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever's survivors are rumored to posses more than just scars - they believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.
Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it's Teren who may posses the darkest secret of all.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Review

I loooooovvvveeeee this book. It is common for the main character to posses a power of all the good things. But this, this is far from that. Adelina just a dark personality with dark past and dark magic. Her ability is drawn by fear and anger. She is definitely a badass.

The plot twist successfuly keeping me on the edge while reading it. It's kinda sad that no one trust Adelina, but hey, that is what make everything interesting. She'll be able to be stronger with that. I drop few tears when Raffaele cut his connection with Adelina, and all the stuff he said that hurt her. I start to think that he is the bad guy in the story. Although Teren is definitely the ruthless one, but the most delicate person could do the most damage right.

Adelina and Enzo is hot, but I kinda get some vibe that something will develop between Teren and Adelina, I would love to see that in fact. Teren and Adelnia got a lot in common, also the darknes in Adelina doesn't affect Teren, so that could be the relationship cue, right?

At the end of the book we got a little spoiler of how exciting the next book will be. I'm so looking forward to read The Rose Society.

Review

When I read the title I was kinda think that this book will full of action. Yet I got a romance story. From the begining of the book untuil the end, I didn't get excited by the story. It's pure romance story from the start. If you like romance then you'll love this book.

The description of their love struck actions are very nice. I like how Morgan made Levi as the gentleman that would make every reader wonder if they could find someone like that. You can guess that Reece and Levi falling in love with each other but, Morgan sure keeping us guessing with their action.

I would love if the author give more story for Harrison. He is the fun one and I was hoping for something more than just a side kick. Overall story seems like a journal of Reece's everyday activity in the palace. I find some part boring and I need to read more than once to really get back to the story line because I get too lost in the romance detail.

It's also disappointing when the enemy seem to be doing nothing to get the key. I'm not really satisfy with how the plot goes. I find some missing story to tie some event and even the main antagonist character appears to be a lot like a cameo. It's not giving me that umph vibe. Like I said, if like romance than this is the book for you. But if you're like me who like a little bit of tense while reading, then it might just bored you.

Rating : 5/5

Review

This must be one of my favorite series, since I enjoy so much reading it from the first book. As the first book, this one also contains three story.

Dark Angel
Gillian almost drown, but the out of nowhere being saved by what she thought is her guardian angel. She is the only one who can see and hear him. Angel start out giving useful advise and help her get closer to her crush. But the more she get to know him, the more dangerous he is.

The so-called guardian angel start to make strange request and proven to be dangerous when he almost done a permanent damage to someone she hates. At the end they get along and somehow related to each other. Oh yeah, Gillian is a lost witch too.

The Chosen
This one is about vampire hunter, Rashel. She grew up hating vampire so much. Her mother was killed by one and took her brother away. She grew up to be one of the most feared vampire hunter and she is the best one.

But as you can probably guess, she fell in love with a vampire, Quinn. Some how when they first met, Rashel couldn't bring her self to kill him. They were soulmate of course. It;s interesting to see their relationship develop.

Soulmate
Unlike most of the character who had some kind of trouble in their life, Hannah's lif is perfect. She got everything she needs, great mother, scholarship, friends. The only thing that trouble her is that she thinks she's going insane. As she discover noter that warning her about someone she loved centuries ago.

She turn out to be a reincarnation of Thierry's, the Lord of The Night World, soulmate. Hannah and Thierry were loversat the beginning of the era of The Night World and the original vampire, Maya, wants to ripped her to pieces.

One thing that got me to love this book so much is that the author create each character in unique way. It's different personality for every character and each story contain it's own complex problem. All story has one root, but Smith manage to create something special for each one of it. You'll not gonna be boring with this book.

This book also give some kind of update about The Night World laws. It's great overall. It's different story and setting but everything clicked really well. I can't find the third book, it's unavailable in every bookstore in my town. But I'll definitely will be on a hunt for it.

The Fallen Star (Fallen Star Series, Book 1) by Jessica Sorensen

And when she's around Alex, the gorgeous new guy at school, she can feel electricity that makes her skin buzz. Not to mention the monsters that haunt her nightmares have crossed over into real -life.
But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma's life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn't be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death.

Rating : 3/5

Review

It's not great but it's good enough. The overall story was good, but I found that most of the characters have weak personality. Like Alex, I just can't understand his emotion. Gemma supposed to be the one with roller coaster emotion, but I found that Alex also difficult to understand.

The other characters also appear to be just a cameo most of the time and had nothing interesting about their back story or personality. I would like to know more of the talent/ability more than just that they are special kind of people. I also think Gemma should be more than damsel in distress with hidden super power. I hate that she's just the weak cowardy one that always runaway or hide everytime troubles are coming.

I enjoy the story, but not so much with the characters detail. Maybe there will be more about it in second book, who knows. I might buy the sequel if I found one, but certainly not going to look for it.

Rating : 5/5

Review

I'm a sucker for romance and vampire and forbidden love so this is absolutely great for me. This book contains three story about love at first, they call it "soulmate principle". It sound stupid, I know, but somehow I just love this book. Let me write the review for each story.

Secret Vampires
A story about Poopy, a human girl who found out she has cancer and only a few month to live. Her bestfriend and the one she love, James, has a secret that could save her life. Poppy decide to be a vampire so she could stay alive and most of all, she could be with James forever.

For this story, I admit that I don't really like it. It's classic Twilight and scream Edward and Bella all over. But being vampire is not the happy ending part. Poppy and James break 2 main laws of the Night World, never tell human about Night World and never fall in love with human. The author also intoduce some characters that will be part of the next story.

It's Ash, the womanizer royal vampire who played with  Poppy's innocent and lead her almost to her death. Ash is actually my favorite characters and the reason I love this book.

Daughters of Darkness
Like I said before, the author introduce Ash as the villain in first story. And in this story, it's about Ash finding his soulmate, who is a human girl name Marry-Lynnette. In first story, James said to Ash that he hope it'll be hurt when Ash fall in love. It happens in this story.

Ash raised to be the royal vampire who thinks all human is nothing but food, a vermin. He went to find his sisters who runaway from home and meet their friend Marry-Lynnette who turns to be his soulmate. The reason why I like this story and Ash so much is the fact that Mary-Lynnette doesn't turn to a vampire just to be with Ash, and Ash didn't force her to do it, he even wish to be a human. They didn't end up together but promise to be together when Ash get back after he prove to her he can change.

It's the sacrifice at the end that make everything even sweeter.

Spellbinder
It's about two witch, Thea and Blaise Harman, the direct descendant of the most powerful witch and the first vampire. Thea is the good one and Blaise is the trouble maker. Thea found comfort in learning magic and connect with animals. Blaise love to toying with boys in school and make them loose their mind over her.

Thea meet her soulmate who is, predictable, a human when she try to cure him from a snake bites. The elders found out about their relationship at the end but decide to do things differently with the Night World laws. Blaise even help her. Thea have to let go of everything she knew for being with her soulmate. It's not sad though, it's a good ending.

At the end of the book, the author give a little teaser about the next book, enough to make me curious and went to the book store the next day, LOL. I read this book because I love The Vampire Diaries series but after I read it, I just couldn't help to fall in love with it. It's the love, it's the vampire, it's magic, everything about it. You can call it the Twilight effect...

I already bought the second book of this series and just can't wait to read it. I don't wanna go back to the previous book just to remind me of the characters, since all characters seem to be connected with the next story, so will read it as soon as possible.

Beautiful Demons (Peachville High Demons #1) by Sarra Cannon

Harper Madison isn't like other girls. She has extraordinary powers, but her inability to control them has gotten her kicked from so many foster homes she's lost count. Shadowford Home is her last chance, and she hopes Peachville High will be the fresh start she needs. But when evidence ties her to the gruesome murder of a Demons cheerleader, Harper discovers this small town has big secret.

Rating : 2/5

Review

I enjoy reading this book, the mystery is thrilling, but I found lots of missing pieces in the story. Trouble orphan girl with supernatural ability that has been shipped from one foster home to another, and end up in the one home with all the mystery about her birth mother. I enjoy the plot twist that keeping me guessing about the murder case. I did't expect that her bestfriend is the crazy one.

The main character, I hate when she keep forgetting important event that could lead her to solve the whole mystery. The author make her so weak and shallow with that forgetting magic thingy. I would've like her more if she stick to her strong independent self who doesn't need to be a popular cheerleader who date the quarterback to be happy, but the author didn't think so. Harper make me wants to yell at her all the time.

The author didn't explain why the main character keep forget things and what was the magic for. She also didn't tell much about "the old law" that Jackson talk about. And there's just not enough detail about her birth mother. The thing that I hate most is the book ends when the event just starting to shape up.

Definitely not gonna read the sequel.

Or can she find a way to have both?
This novelette introduce you to Madly and prepares you for the quest of a lifetime.

Rating : 4/5

Review

This is the first mermaid story I read. Most of YA fiction are almost always about vampire or werewolf or witch and this is a good new addition for me. I'm surprise and kinda disappointed for the very short story but this novelette is meant for introduction only.

It's has a very good plot and full of romance. If you're a fan of romance and love triangle, this would be a good book for you. Yout can spot the romance from the beginning of the book. Madly is a typical rebellious princess who betrothed to her best friend Aidan, but she is hopelessly in love with her Sentinel, Jackson. The characters are likeable, and I quickly fall for Jackson's cold personality.

Can't say much about this book since it's only an intro to make us more curious about the series. But overall it's a good introduction and did make me want to read the whole series.

Probably would go find it latter.
